Risky behavior associated with ADHD in adolescents and adults-A patient’s history

I was recently asked by WebMD for my expert opinion on risky behavior by adolescents and adults with ADHD. Beyond all the research to cite increase substance/alcohol use, increased unplanned pregnancies, increased legal encounters, increased driving accidents with injuries, increased drop-out rates in high school and college, increased unemployment, the author decided to put a face on all this with the help of a patient of mine. The link below is the full article of Amanda, a single woman in her late 20s, who now successfully treated for her ADHD, looks back on the reckless and impulsive behavior grateful that more harm did not befall her. Read her interesting accounts…and reflect on your own history.
